Who can resist these leafy, crisp and juicy sauteed bok choy? Fresh green bok choy make a super healthy side dish and are one of the easiest vegetables to prepare at home! Flavored with fresh ginger, garlic and spiced with chili makes this dish refreshing and delicious at the same time.

When it comes to cooking bok choy, the key is less is more. The taste of bok choy is already flavorish. It has a mild cabbage-like flavor. The green part has a slightly mineral taste and the white stalks are juicy and crunchy.

All you need to make this dish delicious is just a few ingredients: garlic, ginger, soy sauce and chili flakes. The vegetable will soak up all the flavors immediately.

Bok choy also taste amazing in soups and rice or noodles recipes. As a side dish we would eat it with rice and fish or seaweed salad.

Ginger Garlic & Chili Sauteed Bok Choy

Ingredients

  • 1 bok choy
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • ½ tsp chili flakes
  • 1 cm fresh ginger
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

Instructions

  • Rinse the bok choy with cold water, drained. Remove the lower part of the bok choy stems. If you have a big bok choy you can cut the bigger leaves lengthwise to halves.
  • Chop the ginger finely and crush the garlic clove. Bring the oil to a heath in a large skillet. Add the ginger and crushed garlic cloves. Give it a good stir and let it fry for 1 minute. Add the chili flakes and give it another stir and fry for one more minute.
  • Add the bok choy and fry while stirring from time to time for about 5 minutes until soft but still crispy. Serve as a side dish.
