Israeli Schnitzels

  • 150 grams flour
  • 500 grams chicken breasts or filets (you can also use pork or veal)
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 or 2 eggs
  • 150 grams breadcrumbs


  • Put thin sliced pieces of chicken in a bowl and squeeze 1 lemon above it. Marinate the chicken with the lemon juice and a pinch of salt and pepper. Cover the bowl and leave the lemon chicken in the fridge for about 20 minutes.
  • Use 3 different bowls to cover the chicken in the flour and breadcrumbs. Use one bowl for the flour, one with a whisked egg and one with the breadcrumbs. Make sure you keep one hand dry. Take the chicken from the fridge and cover them piece by piece in 3 steps:* dip the chicken on both sides in the flour.* dip the chicken on both sides in the whisked egg.* dip the chicken on both sides in the breadcrumbs.* put the schnitzels on a plate.

  • Once all the schnitzels are ready to bake pour some vegetable oil in a baking pan and bring to a heat (middle heat).┬áBake them until golden brown on both sides.

  • Serve the schnitzels with a sprinkle of lemon accompanied by pita, fries, rice or challah bread. Whatever you feel like today!
